Job Description:


Provide day to day support to the Facilities coordinator / Senior HVAC/Boiler Technician in their operation/maintenance of the Facilities Electrical/ HVAC/Boiler Systems, Fire Suppression Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Fuel Supply Systems and Facility Electrical Distribution Systems at our Ann Arbor R & D Facility. Provide Lead/Support in Fixed Asset (FA) Projects as well as Facility Expansion Projects.  Work with/as Project Manager depending on Projects.  Provide Input/Assistance to General Manager on FA Projects and Budgets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Familiar with large Electrical Distribution Systems with Voltages from 600 VAC and below. Full understanding of 3-phase, 1-phase Systems along with Power Calculations. Able to perform Facility Substation Power Shut Down and Reenergizing. Full understanding and Trained in NFPA 70-E with proficient knowledge in LOTO, PPE requirements and ability to test/diagnose energized electrical systems.   Ability to implement/continue Facility Electrical System Testing/Recording as required by OSHA/NFPA 70-E.

Full understanding of Electrical & Mechanical Meters and Test Instruments..

Understand how the various individual Facility Systems interact with each other and the impact of the failure of one System on another.

Familiar with Steam, Hot Water Boilers/Systems, Process Water, Chilled Water, Chillers, AHU’s, HVAC units and other associated components (Pumps, Motors etc…).

Ability to work closely and provide Facility information to Contractors, Vendors, Design Engineers and others regarding current and future expansion Projects both at the Superior Township location and Facility locations in California.

Create and present technical reports as assigned.

Travel up to 20% of time.

Knowledge of Operation, Maintenance and repair of Large Air Conditioning, Heating, and Ventilation Systems, Fuel Delivery and Gas Monitoring Systems, Hydronic Systems, and Fire Suppression and Security Systems.

Ability to interact with Facility Testing Departments, Safety/Security Engineer and Senior HVAC/Boiler Technician as well as counterparts at the California Facilities.

Knowledge of individual Facility Systems computer operations - for loads, sizing, circuit settings, capacity, balance and other settings

 Ability to provide Low Voltage Wiring for Facility System Integration with Higher Voltage System Wiring a plus.

Experience and Skills:

Technical or Associate’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/ Boiler systems preferred

High School diploma or GED with equivalent experience 

Licensed EPA Refrigerant Transition (Unlimited).

Trained in NFPA 70-E with proficient knowledge in LOTO, PPE requirements and ability to test/diagnose energized electrical systems.  

Licensed Electrical/ Mechanical, Boiler Operator, Chiller Operator a Plus.

5 years’ experience with Electrical systems, HVAC and Boilers in a large facility.

  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
